The picture above is the generator that has been severly damaged after a storm at Carrickalinga during winter time.

To find out about the warning in place around the generator go to www.yankalilla.sa.gov.au the DistricT Council of Yankalilla site the click on wave generator and will tell you all the warnings.

Ocean linx the owner of this wave energy generrator that sunk of the coast of Carrickcalinga has now become a danger to humans and marine wild life. The generator was bound for Port MacDonnell in the South East when it got into trouble when some of the floatation devices lost air. Now the generator sits in a marine park and has become a marine disaster. the local council has posted signs every where warning people from going near the generator and will give you a heafty fine if you are cort near it the maximum penalty is $1250 dollars if you go into the ristriced area around it. With all the dangers this generator is to humans no one thinks about the marine wild life. the reason that you cant go near it is because it has a votex around it and if you get to close you can get sucked into it and you minght not come out alive. what about the fish no one cares about them they can get sucked into it and get mashed up then the blood could atract bigger fiah and make the whole beach unsafe to swim at.  Dolphins swim past this beach and they are very courious creachers so they would check this out and it is posible for them to get suck in side it because of the vortex. This generator wieghs over 3000tonnes so it not going any where in a hurry so how can it be made safe for the marine life and not just for humans. Just putting signs up may be good for us but fish cant read so put something around it to keep the fish out or isnt the marine life worth it. Oceanlinx is the company that own the generator but since this happend they have now gone into reseavership and no longer exist.

                                 figure 3

the picture above is the first of Oceanlinx generators to come to grief this one broke its moorings and is now stranded just of the beach at Port Kembla NSW.

The generator cost over 7 million dollars to build and it weighs about 3000 tonne and now the salvage cost will be around 12 million to remove and it will take over a year to do this. What about the fish and other marine wild life. The picture here shows what the wave generator looks like inside so you can see where the marine life could be crushed or maybe stranded .

Marine Wildlife: is wave power ok for marine wild life?  YES

Marine wild life can avoid wave power systems / harm Tom Thorp of UK based Oxford Oceanics Marine life is more intelagent then people make them out to beand can easlily avoid such devices.WAVE energy divices [generally] will not affect miratory patterns. They can only have positive environmental effects when deployed away from ecologically sensitive areas. Greenpeace has campained strongly and effectively for wave energy , which shows there view of it environmental credentials.

Wave power will not be placed in sensitive areas. Philip D. Moeller, a member for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and supporter of wave and tidal energy projects, he told the New York Times back in 2007 that the goverment not to allow vave generators to be place in sensitive areas.

Wave power will still have a smaller impact on fosil fuel plants 'PROS AND CONS of ocean wave energy". Its note worthy that even these environmental impacts are far less then fosis fuel plants.

Wave generators provide beneficial surface for some sealife. Off shore ocean wave generators need anchors to hold them in place and to the sea floor. These generators may be benificial to sea life because of the subsurface structure they provide.

Ok haveing them say all that in the next part where they said no they contidict them selfs.

Wave power is a hazard to fish and whales. Migating fish and whales can potentially run into wave power generators. The violent bobbing up and down of these systens presents some risk. Even the other types hold risk to them from the noise they make.
